International Schools Across Mallorca

As a family moving to Mallorca, ensuring your children are enrolled in a school ready for your arrival is top of your agenda. 

The island is split into 6 zones: North East, North West, South East, South West, Central and Palma. 

There are international schools across the island with the majority located in Palma. 
There are no catchment areas for International Schools however consideration for distance is a must when looking at the area where you want to live. 

For areas in the North West and South West of the island, the closest International Schools are located in Palma. 

The North East, Centre and South East regions have at least one International School. 

Here is a comprehensive list of schools together with popular areas for families to relocate to for easy access to school and immersing into the international community.

Most of the International Schools teach based on the British Curriculum however there are also French and American curriculum based schools. 

Spanish is also taught in all schools alongside Catalan which is the co-official language of Mallorca. 

International Schools offer places from age 3 right up to age 18 and so are the perfect choice for families with children of different ages.

North East

The only International school in the North, Mallorca International School known as MySchool is located in an area called Crestatx. 

Cretatx itself is a residential area and so it is possible to be walking distance to the school.
Most families live in and around, Pollença, Alcudia, Muro, Campanet, Selva, Caimari all picturesque towns with beautiful townhouses and country homes. 

These areas are around 10-20 minutes drive to the school, popular for their traditional feel  giving you the opportunity to be part of the local and international communities. Their  proximity to the road networks and stunning coast line all with the backdrop of the imposing Tramuntana Mountains means that it is easy to make the most of the outdoor SLOW lifestyle. 

Center.

In the centre of the island the Academy International School is located in Marratxi with the Montessori School of Mallorca located in close by Santa Maria del Cami. 

The catchment area again runs from from Selva / Caimari area, through Alaro and the Santa Maria area and down to Palma. 

Santa Maria and the surrounding area are popular for their space and country feel yet close proximity to the cosmopolitan feel of Palma which is less than 30 minutes drive. 

South East

The  International School in the South East in Manacor is owned by the tennis player Rafa Nadal and so attracts families from across the island and beyond. 

The Rafa Nadal Academy incorporates the only American international School on the island and uses the common core standards based of the American Curriculum.  

Manacor is the second largest city on the island after Palma with a coast full of coves and calas to explore and enjoy the crystal clear waters. 

Palma, North West and South West

Palma and the South West have the most options for International Schools. Depending on the school, families again live across the island up to Santa Maria, Marratxi, Soller and Santanyi.

The International Schools tend to teach in Spanish and English based on the British Curriculum with the exception of the Rafa Nadal Academy which uses American Curriculum principles. 

International school days tend to be around 9am – 4pm.

There are many after school clubs available run by each school and in addition by  local sports centres or individuals such as football/soccer, Basketball, swimming and sailing.
